All About Me

In the sixth grade a teacher made the assignment of creating an all about me book with photos and mini-reports to cover the information "all about me".  Well, then I was 12 and that seemed like a daunting task.  I did it, just did not like it too much.  The thought of writing an "all about me" page at age...much more than 12 seems even more daunting, but necessary because not all of my readers know who I am.  That was another chafing point about the 6th grade assignment, I had already been going to school with most of the kids since kindergarten...and lets face it the elementary years are pretty tame and in a small town we all knew everyone already.

I will give you the "Allie in a nutshell" version, since my blog may overtime reveal more about me, or maybe less.  I am originally from a small town on the coast of Lake Michigan.  My childhood was pretty normal, and uneventful (sorry, this is even boring me).  I have always loved learning.  I attended a liberal arts college after graduating high school.  I have a B.A. degree in Political Science and a minor in Communications, which help me carefully craft and parse language in a persuasive manner.  In other words, I am first rate bulls***ter when I need to be, for example writing letters to get out of speeding tickets.  It also has made me almost expert at seeing through the BS that others try to put out there (we all do it, I can just call it better than most).  I also have a teaching degree and have taught elementary school, but have been on a self declared "sabbatical" for the past 6 years.  See that whole "sabbatical" thing, that is the fancy parsing of language again. I have been living in the suburbs since 1995, and I have a preference for the busier pace of living in a metropolitan area.  I am a mother, which is awesome and exhausting all at the same time.  Parenting is the hardest job and the best job all at the same time.   I am constantly learning, growing, making mistakes, learning from them and evolving.  Loving, Laughing, & Learning.  I hope my blog reflects those things.

Is that really All About Me ?   Probably not.  One page, one book, one reference book, can not really summarize All About anyone...not in sixth grade or at any other stage in life.  We are all a "work in progress".
